A Salvage Title Savior
Luke 19:9-11
April 12. 2015

I thought it was very appropriate that we take Communion right after Easter because it still should be fresh on our minds exactly what happened that day so long ago.

I want to start by reading this Scripture from the Gospel of Luke describing what happened right before Jesus' last trip into Jerusalem.

Luke 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

This day is salvation come to this house...a statement that carries so much joy, relief and hope.
You and I would love to hear it spoken about ours, wouldn't we?
This is God's house...shouldn't salvation be here at ALL times?
I believe it is because I believe that we have a risen Saviour and He is a salvage title Saviour!

Let me explain:
I once had a car, a Nissan Maxima to be exact, and it had a salvage title.
Now we know that when we hear that phrase, that a vehicle has been wrecked and not only wrecked but as close to totaled without being totally unrestorable or fixed.
When I got it, it looked fine...it drove great and was useful but when I went to sell it...it's past was brought back up making it's value far less.
I don't suppose that I'm the only one that has ever overpaid for something but it seemed a little funny to me that it was worth so much more in someone else's hands than mine.

Now let's apply that to our lives.
Anyone here not had a few dings in life?
A few wrecks ...perhaps felt at times like your life is totalled ...not salvageable and should be thrown on the scrapheap?

Then you should be glad to know that there is a salvage title Savior and He not only wants to deal with you but will and HAS given you the very best price for your life...HIS.

Hebrews 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. {be: or, be brought in}
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. {dedicated: or, purified}
19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, {scarlet: or, purple}
20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

You see Jesus is offering a better deal...a better sacrifice than any this world has to offer.

The Scriptures say this to us:
Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? {report: or, doctrine?: Heb. hearing?}
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. {we hid...: or, he hid as it were his face from us: Heb. as an hiding of faces from him, or, from us}
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. {wounded: or, tormented} {stripes: Heb. bruise}
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. {laid...: Heb. made the iniquity of us all to meet on him}
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. {from prison...: or, away by distress and judgment: but, etc} {was he...: Heb. was the stroke upon him}
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. {death: Heb. deaths}
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. {thou...: or, his soul shall make an offering}
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
We are restored...we are salvaged...we are saved because He bore it all...For you and for me.
The thief on the cross was a total wreck...done for until Christ...he got to have a "but God" moment.

Have you ever had one of those?
My life was a disaster "but God" turned it around...my life was headed in the wrong direction "but God" gave me another chance...I once was lost but now I'm found...why?
Because God so loved the world that He gave His son...

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. {strength: Heb. rock}
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

The thief on the cross took his chance knowing it was his last to make his peace with God...his salvation came at the worst moment in his life...is it going to have to get that bad for you before you will?

I'm going to open the altar now for any that want to come and either give the salvage title of their life to the Lord or those who want to thank Him for restoring their soul and then we will take Communion.

Remember, do not take it lightly because if you do then you are guilty of the body and blood of Jesus.
Isn't your life worth more in His hands than in yours?
Someone is always going to be ready to remind you of your past...Jesus wants to remind you that you have a future.
