I Pledge Allegiance...Or Not?

2 Chronicles 7:14

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” These words should ring familiar to each and every man, woman and child within our great country the USA.

Sadly it seems these words are heard less and less each day, with even more, not knowing the words, or simply not understanding the meaning of such words.

We Pledge our allegiance to the United States of American and to the republic, working as one nation under the direction of God. We Are a people that will not be divided, and with a deep love for liberty and equal justice. Does this sound like our country toady?

Is our father in Heaven guiding the choices and decisions of our elected officials? Do we as Americans even know what a “republic” even is? Let me explain without seriously going into American politics, etc., due to the focus here being God and our promise to include him in all things per our pledge.

As many know there are different types of governing systems. We will only include two, these two being the republic and a democracy. Do we know the differences between the two? Remember the pledge says “to the republic.

But our real focus here is the fact that many of us in America feel that God is slowly being removed from our way of life. There are Lawsuits popping up everywhere concerning the words of freedom of religion, but rather it seems they are saying more like “freedom from religion.”

There are those individuals trying to erase God from the foundation of what has built it. But we are the Americans that believe that it was, and is the hand of God that has enabled and kept the USA all these years, and it is due do such individuals, and lawsuits that the hand of God seems not to be felt and seen as years before.

Others have built a system, of what I like to call the “God in the box” method. Simply put it is the system in which God is only allowed to come out of his box when it is convenient and needed for us.

During normal days, they themselves are their God. They may show themselves as good Godly people, going to church every Sunday and helping the needy at times, but yet lack the holiness, power and dedication in their lives that God demands. Is this any of us today?

Though the USA has one of the largest number of churches and Christians in the world. The voice of such churches and Christians have remained far too quiet, and yielded too far too many battles. The Unity of the church and having its voice unified as one must be a priority that can not be dismissed as simply chat.

If we the light of this country can not find a way to do such, then darkness will ultimately grow, and consume us. Even a small light in a dark room gives light enough to see the way out. Let us focus this week on the scripture of 2 Chronicles 7:14 as it reads:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Let us set some time aside today, remembering the men and women that gave their lives for the cause of what is summoned up in our pledge. Let their death not be in vain.
