IT WAS THAT SUNDAY MORNING SPIRIT

That Old Time Singing

That Old Time Singing

The Spirit would have Its finest hour
When the clock would have no power
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

The bulletin had no formal voice
As the agenda would be His choose
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

Many praises were there begotten
Now Long since have been forgotten
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

As the Spirit would move to explain
The old time religion would acclaim
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

The Amen's would shout and roll
One by one with Him to condole
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

God's saving power would declare
As the Holy experiences did share
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

The sermon had a free and easy feel
From the start every word seemed real
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

At the end the alter was freely open
Many thoughts were divinely spoken
It Was That Sunday Morning Spirit

Do you remember that "old time religion"? I sure do. I remember the song leader ( known now as the Worship Leader) would always pick the best song, for the testimony time. The leader would then pause between the song verses, as the testimonies would commence. And yes, sometimes as the spirit would lead, we would never get past the first verse of the song.

What happened to that "old time religion" spirit in our churches? Are we too politically correct now? Do we leave God's Holy Spirit at the front church door? Whatever the "cause, if we don't yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, then we may not like the final "effect. May God be with us.

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you" (John 14:16-18)
