Jesus Gives Peace

John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Context:
• Here we have Jesus speaking to his disciples
• Telling them that he must leave them
• He will send the comforter to be with them
• They will not be alone.
• And he will leave his peace with them.

Introduction:
What I would like to talk about this morning is God's peace

1. Why Does Jesus talk about this peace?
2. When did Jesus start giving this peace?
3. To who does Jesus give this to peace to?
4. What is this peace that Jesus gives?
5. How do you get this peace?
6. Can we Loose this peace?
7. How do people loose this peace?
8. How do you know you have lost Gods peace?
9. How do you get back Jesus peace?
10. What should we do with peace that Jesus has given to us?

1. Why Does Jesus talks about this peace?

a. Because it is a real peace
b. Because the world does not have it v27
c. Because Jesus can give it
a. Not like the devil he gives stolen staff
d. You can only Get it from him
e. The Christian needs it
f. Its part of the charter of the Christian must have

Galatians 5:22-23
English Standard Version (ESV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

g. Jesus wants to introduce this peace into the world
h. So that there heart will not be troubled John 14 :1
i. Because He is going to leave them v3
j. So that Jesus would not leave them ORPHANS v18
k. So that they would not feel ALONE
l. Jesus talked about peace all the time
m. Lets look at this

Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Mark 5:34
And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

Mark 9:50
Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Luke 1:79
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Luke 10:5
Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’

2. When did Jesus start giving this peace?

a. When He died on the cross
b. When He won the victory
c. When He rose from the dead
d. He did give Peace while he was on earth
e. But not in a great scale like he can do today
f. Lets look at this

Luke 24:36
Jesus Appears to His Disciples As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!”

John 20:19
Jesus Appears to the Disciples On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:21
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

John 20:26
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

3. To who does Jesus give this to peace to?

a. To his disciples
b. To whom is Jesus talking too here? To his disciples
c. Who is a disciple?
d. To those have made commitment to follow Jesus
e. Those who are Christians
f. Those who believe Jesus is the only way to heaven v6

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

g. Those who love Jesus and keep his commands

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

h. Not to everyone
i. He does not give it to the world

17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

i. Only those in which God lives in there heart

4. What is this peace that Jesus gives?

a. It's his personal peace
b. It's free to us
c. It's a beautiful Peace
d. It's internal peace
e. It's different
f. It’s a heavenly peace
g. The Father has this peace
h. The Holy Spirit has this peace
i. Those who are in heaven have this peace
j. It’s a peace that is different from the world
k. It is an assurance at the Jesus is with us
l. It is peace that you know you have eternal life
m. It is peace that you know you are going to heaven
n. It’s a peace to tell us we are still in a relationship with God
o. It’s a peace to tell us, if we have walked away from God
p. It's peace to tells us if we are walking on the right track
q. It is a peace that effects your mind
i. Your emotions
ii. Your actions
iii. Your words
iv. Your eyes
v. Your soul
vi. Your faith

r. It's peace the people can see
s. It's peace that people can see you are different about you
t. It's desirable peace
u. It's an attractive peace
v. It gives you confidence
w. It is there even if go through heard times its there
x. It’s a peace even though you die it will be with you Psalm 23
y. It's peace even though they lock you up in prison cell (Paul)
z. Even though they stone you to death (Steven)
aa. The peace is still there if you have no money
bb. The Peace is always over flowing
cc. The Peace is there as long Jesus is alive
dd. We will always have this peace

5. How do you get this peace?

a. Go to Jesus
b. Start a living relationship with Jesus
c. Ask Jesus to come into your life
d. Believe in God v1
e. Believe in Jesus v1
f. Let the Holy Spirit live in your life and guide your life v16
g. Listen to Jesus in what he telling you
h. You must know that Jesus is the way v6
i. If you love Jesus v15
j. If you Obey Jesus commands v15

6. Can we Loose this peace?

a. Yes we can
b. There are many Christians that have lost peace
c. David Lost this peace
d. Saul lost this peace

7. How do people loose this peace?

a. Sin in your life
b. Stubbornness
c. Pride
d. Anger
e. Selfishness
f. Not having Jesus in first place
g. Not coming to Church
h. Not reading your bible
i. Not praying
j. Not working for Gods glory
k. No faith in Jesus
l. No Trust in Jesus
m. Blaming God
n. Unbelief
o. Lack of Knowledge on how to please Jesus
p. Your Conscience condemns you
q. In what you think
r. Where do you think the Devil attacks first? in the mind
s. Not being Happy in what you have

Philippians 4:11-13
English Standard Version (ESV)
11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

8. How do you know you have lost God's peace?

a. You feel lonely
b. You start to complain
c. You get angry quickly
d. You start blaming God for things
e. You say with your mouth I have no peace
f. You don’t like reading your bible
g. You don’t like praying anymore
h. The Sermons don’t affect you
i. You would rather be with non Christians
j. You let the T.V be your comfort
k. You don’t want to talk about Jesus anymore
l. You cry a lot
m. Your Conscience condemns
n. Your Sin condemns

9. How do you get back Jesus' peace?

Revelation 2:4-5
English Standard Version (ESV)
4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

a. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; v5
b. Find out what caused you to loose this peace
c. Repent v5
d. and do the works you did at first v5
e. Go back to Jesus
f. Read your bible
g. Pray
h. Return back to church
i. Worship Jesus with all the heart

10. What should we do with peace that Jesus has given to us?

a. We should keep it dear
b. We should treat it like Gold
c. We should do everything in our power to keep this peace
d. We should praise God for it
e. We should thank God for it
f. We should tell others about it (Promote it)
g. We should increase in it
h. Make it Grow

In conclusion:

What have we learned from this passage?

1. Simple
2. If you want peace from Heaven
3. Go to Jesus
4. He gives it out for free
5. All you have to do is ask Jesus into your life
6. If you have lost this peace
7. Go back to Jesus and repent
8. And the peace will return
9. Keep it precious
10. It better than Gold.
