LONGING FOR THE HARVEST

by Dr. Earl White
(Bossier City, LA, USA)

Psalm 126:6

There are five truths that we need to be sensitive to if we are to enjoy the harvest referred to in this verse.

I. THERE MUST BE A GOING FORTH

Our text says, “He that goeth forth.” WE have this treasure in earthen vessels. The message of salvation is in us. We carry it wherever we go.

Jesus commissioned the Church in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

II. WE MUST BEAR THE PRECIOUS SEED

“Bearing precious seed.” This is the message of salvation. Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

It is not enough to go. There must be seed sowing. The seed is the gospel of Christ. 1 Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

III. THERE MUST BE A BURDEN

Our text speaks of tears. We must weep over the lost condition of the world. They do not weep for themselves. They have no idea what they face in eternity without Christ. There is not a small chance that they will escape hell if they are not saved.

IV. THERE MUST BE FAITH IN GOD AND HIS WORD

Psalms 126, “ . . . He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” There is no doubt about it. If we go and sow the seed there will doubtless be a harvest.

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.

Brother, Thank you for such powerful words of the reality of Christian Life. Thank you for going forward in courage and boldness proclaiming our commission to GO and Preach The Gospel to the lost world. Thank you for shining God's light into the darkness that has come into the church. You message has stirred up in me the old time Gospel Preaching that Jesus Himself came only to seek and save those that were lost.
