SAVING UNCLE SAM

"Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; You are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from You; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all." (I Chronicles 29:11-12)

What's your take on the unusual happenings occurring around this great universe of ours? Is our all-powerful, all-knowing Creator of this universe of ours not in control? Why not? After all, He made this creation we essentially label the universe, from nothing to something. Why would He not continue to make sure His handiwork is protected? After all, He is our all-powerful living God. And when He finished His great creation work, He did, in fact, look around, blessing it all, for everything that He had made was very good. (Genesis 1:31)

So now let us fast-forward eons of time, into the Twenty-First century. Mankind has now developed through it all into a modern free-will, self-ruling autonomy, a "me, myself, and I" generation, a society where anything goes. So is it any wonder we have turned out the way we are? (II Timothy 3:13) Old fashioned common sense must be on vacation.

Our Creator didn't create a culture of robots when He first created man and woman, placing them in His beautiful Garden of Eden. He gave them certain responsibilities (Genesis 2:15) and specific instructions. (Genesis 2:16-17) But it wasn't long after their creation, that God's fallen archangel, Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-15) came on the scene and tempted our first parents into sin. (Genesis 3:1-7)

As result of this initial sin, all mankind is now born having inherited sin. (Romans 3:23) However, God instantly gave us a promise of a way out of our sinful nature. (Genesis 3:15)

You see, here is the very first prophecy of the redeeming work of the cross. (John 3:16-17) God's promise, metaphorically speaking, was that Christ would deal a death blow to Satan's head at the cross, while Satan would bruise Christ's heal, causing Him to suffer.(Genesis 3:14-15)

Now, our blessed Creator, the one who made mankind after His own image (Genesis 1:26-27), has obstinately been left behind and His human race has voluntarily become a perverse generation. Just how long do you think our Creator will put up with us, before calling it quits? (Matthew 17:17) That's one of those GOK (God only knows) questions. In fact, our Lord Himself doesn't actually know when the end as we know it, will occur. (Matthew 24:36) Only the Father knows.

Well now, let us continue to fast forward, into what we now call the End of Time. This unusual setting may or may not include our today's world. However, Scripture does, in fact, give us a certain hint as to when this time frame will happen. (Matthew 24:37-38)

Scripture tells us that in the last days difficult times will come. (II Timothy 3:1) Scripture then gives us a precise laundry list of what to look for within our culture in these last days.

"People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (II Timothy 3:2-5)

Wow! What a perverse conglomeration, wouldn't you say? Sounds like the evening so-called "parental guidance" TV, or maybe today's local newspaper.

A few additional subtle hints about the end of the age; don't be misled by false teachers of the gospel (Matthew 24:4-5), by those religious leaders who fail to preach and teach the full gospel (I Cor. 15:1-4) and by the unsettled nature of the world. (Matthew 24:6-7)

So what has happened to us? Basically, I do feel we are in the last days, so to speak. Even Satan himself knows his time is short. That's why evil seems to rule the world, and why Satan and his minions are on the rampage (Ephesians 6:12) The demonic hosts of Satan are all now assembled for mortal combat, and they know just how and who to infiltrate.

I really don't feel that Satan personally attacks us individualy. He simply leaves it up to his minions or to the temptations of today's evil cultural influences. He goes after the bigger fish of the pond; presidents, kings, governments, and those more influential members of society. You see, Satan is not like God, he cannot be in all places at the same time.

Nonetheless, our living God has given us a promise. He will always overcome evil with good. (Genesis 50:20) You can count on that. He rules the earth, and every living thing in it. (Colossians 1:16)

What then may we, who hold to the name of Christ do for His eternal kingdom? We must be ready at all times to rebuke today's evil actions (II Timothy 4:2), and be ready to give our testimony for the Lord. (I Peter 3:15) Eventually, the time will come when preaching, or witnessing for the gospel will be of no avail. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

Author's Postscript -

What has happened to us? Why have we, and why don't we come to Him? We serve a personal God, a living God who is always divinely near to His people. (Jeremiah 23:23-24) He is always ready and willing to talk with His people. (Psalm 27:8) I know this concept may be mind-boggling, as it is intellectually and emotionally overwhelming. What can we tell Him that He doesn't already know? This thought can oftentimes basically leave us spellbound.

I know according to the Scripture, regardless of how society may seem to be developing, that God places both good and bad individuals in authority, in accordance with His sovereign will, to effect His purpose. (Daniel 2:19-23) I do feel that God will turn the world's evil into good. We may not see it happen, but it will happen.

God has His own timing. There are no clocks or calendars in glory land. As I read His prophecy, I see a certain rhythm taking place, for Scripture interprets Scripture. It's all by divine design. (II Peter 1:20-21)

And I do feel, however, that Jesus is coming back soon. (I Thess. 4:13-18) It may just be sooner than we think. And when He does come back, to gather His people, it will be quickly. (I Cor. 15:51-52) The evildoers, left behind on the planet, will not see God's people vanish which will cause major chaos on the planet beyond measure. Then all Hell will literally break loose, under the direction of Satan's anti-christ.

So can "Uncle Sam" be saved? Can our land be healed? Yes, by following God's command and receiving His promise. ( 2 Chronicles 7:14)
