The triune (three in one) God, is God’s emphasis on the Three or on the One

The triune (three in one) God, is God’s emphasis on the Three or on the One

Spiritual truth is not known by the reasoning of our heads only by revelation to our hearts:

1 Cor 2:13-14 We do not speak in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, as we explain spiritual truths to those who have the Spirit.
TEV/ But the natural man (the unconverted or the Christian without the Holy Spirit) does NKJV not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are discerned and only known by his spirit.

These verses tell us we can’t understand spiritual truths with our natural minds. But if we have received the Holy Spirit into our own spirits, God will reveal them to our hearts, that is, we will discern them. If we aren’t serious about this, neither will God take us seriously.

The word “Trinity” is not in the Bible, but scripture sets out the three part nature of God:

1 Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. (Let’s consider this:)

Do we know Jesus as the word of God? Whose Word is He? He is the Father’s Word.

Rev 19:12 ...His (Jesus’) name is called The Word of God.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was (and is) God...All things were made by Him..(made by the Word)God says He made everything by His word. So why does He refer to the word as a Him?

Eph 3:9 God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. (because Jesus is the word)

Yes, but the expression “The Word” isn’t it simply just a title or metaphor for Jesus Christ or does it really mean the words God actually speaks? Ps 33:6 answers this question:

Psa 33:6 The heavens were made...by the breath of His mouth (the word He speaks)

If we live in the natural we can only think of Jesus in human bodily form. But after we are born again and receive the Holy Spirit we know Him after the Spirit as the Word of God.

2 Cor 5:16 ...We have known Christ after the flesh, from now on we know Him this way no more (we only know Him after the Spirit, as He is, the Word of God).

If we know Jesus as the word, then the question whose word is He, becomes clear to us:

John 14:10 (Jesus, the word speaking)…The words I say are not My own but are from My Father who lives in Me. And He does His work through Me. TLB

Jesus is the word, the word the Father speaks. How do we then receive Jesus initially, to be born again, and then more of Him to grow in Him? By believing the word God speaks:

John 1:14 And the Word (whose word?) became flesh and dwelt among us…

John 1:12 But as many as received Him (God’s word), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (in His word):

1 Pet 1:23 Having been born again...by (believing) the word of God...

Let’s return to our original scripture and substitute “the word of the Father” for “the word”.

1 Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word of the Father (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

A Famous Hymn: “Word of The Father now in flesh appearing, O come let us adore Him”

Jesus, the Father’s Son and His word, and the Father, are one and the same Person:

Isa 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…And His name will be called…Mighty God…Everlasting Father…(the Son is called the Father).

Jo 14:9 (Jesus the word speaking) He who has seen Me has seen the Father...

Jo 10:30 (Jesus speaking) I and My Father are one.

So Jesus is not a separate person from the Father? No, He is the Father’s word and hence One with Him, and therefore He is the exact likeness of the Father’s person:

Heb 1:3 He (The son, The word) is the exact likeness of His (The Father’s) person...

To grow up spiritually is to be transformed into the same likeness, as we believe the word:

2 Cor 3:18 As we with unveiled face (heart) continue to behold in the Word of God the glory of the Lord (Jesus), we are being transformed into His very own likeness (through the words we believe) by the Spirit of the Lord. AMP

Now let’s consider The Holy Spirit – Whose Spirit is He? Why He is the Father’s Spirit:

Matt 10:20 (Jesus to the disciples) For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your
Father who speaks in you.

1 Cor 2:10 But God has revealed them (spiritual truths) to us through His Spirit…

1 Jo 4:13 ...God lives in us...By this we know that we live in Him, and He lives in us, because He (God) has given us of His Holy Spirit.

To be born again we must begin to believe in our hearts the words of the Father, that is, to receive Jesus. But we’re still under the control of our sinful human nature. To be saved from sin we must receive by faith the Spirit of the Father, who will cause us to keep God’s words, be changed by them, and to minister them to others – a critical part of our salvation.

Rom 8:9 (To Christians) But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; (TEV) You live as the Spirit tells you to — if, in fact, God's Spirit lives in you.

Ezek 36:27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes (My words), and you will keep My judgments (My words) and do them.

Acts 8:14-16 ...Samaria had received the word of God (they were born again), Peter and John prayed that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (How about you?)
Jesus, the word of the Father, and the Holy Spirit of the Father are One, the Scriptures say

Jo 14:16-18 (Jesus) I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter (KJV)…the Spirit of truth…I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jo 20:22 And when He (Jesus) had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. (the breath or Jesus, the Spirit of the Father)

Phil 1:19 ..The supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ (that is, the Spirit of The Farther)

In our original scripture let’s substitute “the Holy Spirit of the Father” for “the Holy Spirit”:

1 Jo 5:7 There are three that bear record in heaven; The Father, the Word of the Father, and the Holy Spirit of the Father and these three are one.

Who lives in the heart of the believing Christian - The Three separately or just The One?

2 Co 13:5 …Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?...

1 Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God…?

Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is…in you... (But these three are One, so:)

1 Jo 4:4 …Greater is He (singular) that is in you, than he that is in the world. KJV

Who is to be the Lord of our lives, The Father, The Son (and Word) or The Holy Spirit (and Breath)? Or is there to be just One Lord and One God and One Father of us all?

Matt 11:25 …Jesus answered and said…Father, Lord of heaven and earth…

2 Cor 6:18 I will be a Father to you…Says the LORD Almighty. (The Father is Lord)

Rom 10:9 …Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus…(Jesus is Lord)

2 Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit… (The Spirit is Lord - are there three Lords? Or:)

Eph 4:5 One Lord…

Jam 2:19 You believe that there is One God. You do well…(So we pray “our Father”)

God our Father says: The Holy words are “My” Words and the Holy Spirit is “My” Spirit:

Prov 1:23 ...I will pour out My Spirit on you; I will make My Words known to you.

Prov 4:20 My son, attend to My Words; incline your ear unto My Sayings. KJV

Zech 4:6 … Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the LORD of hosts.

Will we allow the Father of our spirits to reveal to us and establish our hearts in the truth that He and His word and His Spirit are One, and abandon our traditions to the contrary?

1 Jo 5:7 There are three that bear record in heaven; The Father, the Word of the Father, and the Holy Spirit of the Father and these three are one.
