TRUE BEAUTY

by Kathie Williamson
(Hartwell, Ga)

IPeter 3:3 - Do not let your adornment be merely outward - arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel - rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Proverbs 3l:30 - Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Proverbs ll:22 - Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.

TRUE BEAUTY

In a world where true beauty is seldom recognized
when seen through the reflection of a sinful world's eyes
and the focus of our hearts as we begin each day
is how we'll look to others when others look our way

Lord help me be a woman whose beauty doesn't lie
just on the outward surface to be seen by human eye
Help me be a woman of whom are very few
Help me be a woman whose beauty lies in you

Adorn me with the incorruptible beauty of a spirit gentle and quiet
and clothe me with the beauty that is precious in your sight
For you don't see my figure or the style of my hair
and it matters not to you the fine clothes that I wear

Help me to remember life is not a beauty contest
and with a gold ring in a pig's snout you are not impressed
Let me watch over the ways of my household with tender, loving care
and teach my children to honor you in reverential fear
Let me be a woman whose children rise and call her blessed
not because I'm perfect but because I've done my best

Lord help me be a reflection of your beauty and your grace
where beauty lies much deeper than just a pretty face
Help me be a woman with the beauty you impart
whose life reflects the beauty of the hidden person of the heart

Let the beauty of your holiness adorn my life each day
that the world might see true beauty when it looks my way.
