Visionary Leadership: You Get What You See

Just before Elijah was taken up to heaven, he asked Elisha “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?"
"Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit," Elisha replied.
"You have asked a difficult thing," Elijah said, "yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours-otherwise not." 2 Kings 2:9-10
Elisha did see his master taken up and he did receive the double potion of the anointing.
As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw this and cried out, "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" 2 Kings 2:11-12
Here we see an important principle in Visionary Leadership. You get what you see in your Spirit. A vision is birthed in the heart of the leader. It is something that gets hold of you. It may even give you sleepless nights until you put it into action and see it accomplished !
At the opening ceremony of the Walt Disney amusement park, the Master of ceremonies said “ It’s sad that Walt Disney did not live to see this day” The next speaker was Disney’s wife. She said “I am here to tell you that Walt Disney saw this long before he died.”
That’s visionary leadership!
