We Are Special

Hebrews 10:21-25

INTRODUCTION: What is a privilege? Webster’s dictionary says that a privilege is a special or peculiar benefit, advantage, right or immunity. Some privilege’s come because of age like voting, like positions because of experience, or titles because of education. Privilege’s can come because of wealth, status, or politics.

The Bible talks about the issue of privileges. It says that we have privileges that come with being a Christian. Many of us take for granted the privileges that we do have and should not become complacent with them.

We have the privilege to communicate with God and have a personal relationship with Him. We also have encouragement from other believers and can worship God with other Christians as well.

THEME: WHAT PRIVILEGES DO CHRISTIANS HAVE?

I. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF COMMUNICATING WITH GOD. vs.21-22


  1. We Can Communicate With God By Praying.
    1. Praying helps us draw near to God.
    NOTE: Draw near means to come to, approach, draw near spiritually.
    2. Praying lets us talk to God.
    3. Praying lets God talk to us.
    4. Praying lets us ask for forgiveness of sins.


  2. We Can Communicate With God By Reading The Bible.
    1. Reading the Bible gives us a full assurance of our faith.
    NOTE: Full assurance of our faith is trusting fully the faithfulness of God.
       a. Assurance of our faith comes from Christ’s blood cleansing our old conscience.
       b. Assurance of our faith comes from Christ’s cleansing our bodies with pure water.
    NOTE: Pure is a natural sense, clean, clear, pure.
    2. Reading the Bible give us insight to Christ’s life.
    3. Reading the Bible is God’s way of speaking to us.
    4. Reading the Bible brings maturity and growth.


  3. We Can Communicate With God By Singing Praises To Him.
    1. Singing praises to God lets Him speak to us.
    2. Singing praises to God lets us lift Him up and thank Him for what He has done for us.
    3. Singing praises to God lets others see how much we love Him.


T.S. WHAT PRIVILEGES DO CHRISTIANS HAVE?

I. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF COMMUNICATING WITH GOD. vs.21-22

II. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. vs.23

  1. We Can Have A Personal Relationship With God By Spending Time With Him.
    1. Spending time with God needs to be a daily thing.
    2. We need to spend time with God on a personal level.
    3. We need to spend time with God with others.
    4. We need to spend time with God in church.


  2. We Can Have A Personal Relationship With God By Constantly Talking With Him.
    1. Constantly talking with God includes prayer.
    NOTE: Pray without ceasing. I Thessilonians 5:17
    2. Constantly talking with God includes talking to Him about our day.
       a. Thanking Him for what He has done for us.
       b. Asking Him for strength or help.


  3. We Can Have A Personal Relationship With God By Telling Him Our Needs, Wants, And Desires.
    1. By telling God our needs, wants, and desires we are being totally open with him.
    2. By telling God our needs, wants, and desires we are laying our burdens at his feet.
    NOTE: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. I Peter 5:7
    3. By telling God our needs, wants, and desires we are trusting God to supply our every need.


  4. We Can Have A Personal Relationship With God By Listening And Obeying Him.
    1. Listening and obeying the Holy Spirit is the fear of the Lord.
    2. Listening and obeying the Holy Spirit shows our devotion to Him.
    3. Listening and obeying the Holy Spirit proves we are willing to be used of God.


T.S. WHAT PRIVILEGES DO CHRISTIANS HAVE?

I. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF COMMUNICATING WITH GOD. vs.21-22
II. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. vs.23

III. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEG OF HAVING ENCOURAGEMENT FROM OTHER BELIEVERS. vs.24

  1. As Christians We Should Encourage Other Believers With Love.
    1. We should love others with Agape love.
    NOTE: Agape love is God’s love for us and it is what he thinks is best for us and not what we desire.
    2. We should love others with Christ’s love.
    3. We should love others more than ourselves.


  2. As Christians we should encourage other believers with good deeds.
    1. Good deeds can be kind words.
    2. Good deeds can be spending quality time with someone.
    3. Good deeds can be good works.


T.S. WHAT PRIVILEGES DO CHRISTIANS HAVE?

I. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF COMMUNICATING WITH GOD. vs.21-22
II. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. vs.23
III. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEG OF HAVING ENCOURAGEMENT FROM OTHER BELIEVERS. vs.24

IV. CHRISTIANS HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF WORSHIPING GOD WITH OTHER BELIEVERS. vs.25

  1. We Can Worship God With Other Believers By Coming To Church Faithfully.
    1. Coming to church faithfully includes Sunday school and Sunday morning service.
    2. Coming to church faithfully includes Sunday night service.
    3. Coming to church faithfully includes Wednesday night service.


  2. We Can Worship God With Other Believers By Helping Out In A Ministry Of The Church.
    1. A ministry of the church can be during church services.
    NOTE: Teaching, preaching, staff, worker, or helper.
    2. A ministry of the church can be during other days of the week.
    NOTE: Witnessing, visiting, or working.
    3. A ministry of the church can be praying.


  3. We Can Worship God With Other Believers With Our Voices In Praise And Worship.
    1. When we praise and worship we honor God.
    2. When we praise and worship we glorify God.
    3. When we praise and worship we exalt God.


  4. We Can Worship God With Other Believers With Exhortation.
    1. Exhortation comes from exhorting others.
    NOTE: Exhortation is to urge by earnest appeal or argument.
    2. Exhortation comes from comforting others.
    3. Exhortation comes from desiring to help others.


CONCLUSION: What privileges do Christians have? We have the privilege to communicate with God. We have the privilege to have a personal relationship with God. We have the privilege of having encouragement from other Christians. We also have the privilege of worshiping God with other believers.

We have the privilege of communicating with God. Do you take advantage of this gift or do you take it for granted? Will you talk to God right now and ask for forgiveness for taking Him for granted?

We have the privilege of having a personal relationship with God? Do you know God personally or do you know about God?

We have the privilege of having encouragement from other believers. Do you rob other Christians from blessings or do you spend time with other believers and let them encourage you when you are down?

We have the privilege of worshiping God with other believers. Do you faithfully worship God with others or do you need to come today and ask God to help you be more faithful?
