What Are You Doing With the Freedom that God Had Given You?

Romans 6 and 1 Corinthians 9

Key Lessons:
1. Christ came to give us freedom and deliverance. (John 8:31-36)
2. We have freedom from the penalty of sin (Romans 6:23; Romans 8:1-2; John 10:27-29)
3. We have power over the presence of sin. (Romans 6:12-14, 18)
4. We have the promise of being removed from the presence of sin. (1Corintians 15:51-57)

Key Application:
1. We are free to experience God’s love. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:10)
2. We are free to love God and one another. (Matthew 22:37-40)
3. We are free to love one another. (John 13:34-35, John 15:12, 1 John 3:1, 1 John 4:7-11)
4. We have freedom from fear. (Romans 8:15, 2Timothy 1:7)
5. We have freedom from worry, doubt, and anxiety. (Matthew 6:25, Philippians 4:6)
6. We have freedom from want. (Philippians 4:11-12, Psalm 23:1)
7. We have freedom to be at peace and in peace. (John 14:24, John 16:33)
8. We have freedom to experience joy and happiness. (John 13:17, John 15:11)

Key Objectives:
1: Increase your confidence in Christ – that is, in who he is. (2 Timothy 1:12)
2. Have confidence in what Christ is doing, he is working on your behalf. (Philippians 1:6)
3. Take your focus off you and live to glorify God. (Mathew 5:16)
4. Be satisfied with what Christ is doing in you, through you, and for you. (Hebrews 13:5-6)
5. Do not allow discontent to cause you to harm yourself. (1 Timothy 6: 6-11)

II. There Is A Reward For Using Your Freedom To Serve Others

A. Serve So That You May Obtain The Prize VV. 24 – 25

B. Serve With Certainty And Conviction VV. 26

C. Serve While Keeping Yourself In Subjection V. 27

GOD EXPECTS, AND GOD REQUIRES THAT WE USE THE FREEDOM THAT HE HAS GIVEN US, TO SERVE HIM AND TO SERVE OTHERS!!! (ROMANS 6: 18 – 22)
