WHAT'S IN A NAME

To Whom Do You Proclaim ?

To Whom Do You Proclaim ?

What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I claim an evil past
Do I claim good at last
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I turn to the sky
Do I ask the big why
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I bring open hands
Do I beg other plans
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I come on bended knee
Do I come to make my plea
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I look to Him above
Do I take His great love
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim
Do I get He took my place
Do I take His free grace
What's in a name
To Whom do I proclaim
Do I take the gospel clue
Do I see a life brand new
What's in a name
To whom do I proclaim

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name". (Isaiah 62:2)

What's in your name ? What do you like to be called ? Growing up, I literally detested the nick-name my young play mates gave me. However, as time passed, I learned to either get over it, or I outgrew it, I'm not sure which.

In Bible times, names were important, as they would be given to proclaim ones character or ambition in life. And in the scripture, we are told that God's only begotten son (John 3:16), had the most important name in history, that being Jesus. This name was given Him, as He w as to saved His people from their sin Matthew 1:21).

So, names are certainly important. And in my case, I am proud of my surname as well as my given name, as they both portray my heritage (Proverbs 22:1).

I trust the underlining message of this poem reaches home. That being the true gospel message (1 Cor 15:1-4), and a changed life (2 Peter 3:9).
