CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU

by KATHIE WILLIAMSON
(Hartwell, Ga.)

PROVERBS 13:7 - There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who makes himself poor, yet has great
riches.
I TIMOTHY 6:6 - Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
Matthew 6:l9 - Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth ... but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.

CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU

There were once two ladies who in appearance looked the same
Though one lived a life or poverty, the other wealth and fame
Both were given many years to live as they should choose
To give up what they could not keep or keep what they could lose
The one chose to surround herself with luxuries galore
While the other gave away until there was no more
Sometimes they met in passing while walking down the street
One looking down her nose, the other smiling sweet
Then one day by happenstance or perhaps by fate
Both ladies had an appointment on the very same date
Though to different destinations both were making haste
The accident up ahead brought both to the same place
Both lives that day ended and much to their surprise
They found themselves in heaven standing side-by-side
In the distance stood a mansion that both could clearly see
"Oh" replied the wealthy one, "that must be for me!"
"I'm sorry" came the reply "but this is not your home"
Then turning to the other said, "This is where you belong"
Then pointing to an old shack, "This is your home" he said
"For you brought nothing with you while she sent on ahead"
The wealthy lady cried out, "Surely you must be wrong!"
"What of all my possessions and all the lovely things I owned?"
"I'm sorry" came the reply "but those thing were not your own"
"And you cannot take with you what to you does not belong."
