Keep the Fire Burning

by Loy Clements
(Springhill, LA. U.S.A.)

Text: Revelation 3:14-22

Introduction: The modern day church for its lack of faith is a lukewarm church. To keep the church on fire, we must first keep our fire burning individually. A hot fire of faith is made up with the hot coals of God's Word that catches fire quickly; but it burns slowly.

You can never build a fire with wet wood; it takes our tongue filled with God's Word! Christians that don't live a committed life in Christ cannot live by faith, and their faith-wood is wet. Wood that hasn't gone through a time of waiting, and the process of drying, is not the faith-wood you want on your fire.

I. Your Works Are Neither Hot Nor Cold.

  1. Luke warmness is a lack of faith.

  2. It made God sick. "Spew out" means thrown out or to faint (Isaiah 40:28-31)

  3. Many are closed off to God's Word.

  4. (Mark 4:1-7)

II. I Would Rather You Be Hot In Faith.

  1. Your works will be tested by the fire of God's Word.

  2. Because of My love for you be zealous which means "intense or eager interest" (Webster)

Repent of sin. Change what you believe because what you know doesn't matter; it is what you believe that makes all things possible.

  3. The fire of the Holy Ghost will lead you.

  4. (Acts 2:1-3) This fire comes where there is the unity in faith. This fire leads and seperates by faith.

    Exodus 13:21,22; Exodus 14:24

"And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the Egyptians"

    Principles to remember:

    1. Don't blame God for trouble; it doesn't come from Him.

    2. Trouble defeats Christians because of their lack of faith.

    3. Men's traditions make the Word of Faith to be none effective.

III. God Wants Us To Be Overcomers.

  1. I will grant joint-seating with Me.

  2. (1 John 5:4)...faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

  3. If you will trust me and live for me.

  4. (Revelation 12:11) The blood, the word of our testimony, and not loving our lives unto death is the victory that overcomes the devil.

Conclusion: The just shall live by faith! To keep the fire burning, stay in faith! What do I mean stay in faith? Let God be true, and every man a liar! Trust God and His Word! Simple enough, now just do it!
