THE TEA

by Kathie Williamson
(Hartwell, Ga)

THE TEA

One day up in heaven God decided to have a tea
The angels all drew near this most unusual sight to see
"I will need a tea set, saucers, cups and pot
A creamer too is needed, now what have I forgot?"

"Begging sir your pardon" one humble angel said
"But sugar will be needed, without it tea tastes dread!"
So God set about creating each one to do its task
Each specially created dish was finished now at last

He called the angels forth and bid them to sit down
Cups and saucers waited anxiously to all be passed around
The teapot was prepared and it began to sing
The creamer waited patiently content to serve her King

But the little sugar dish wasn't in her place
She didn't want to simply be a dish to serve tea's taste
For the little sugar dish wanted so to be
the grand and splendid teapot that sang so beautifully

But the little sugar dish just didn't understand
that she was created thus to serve her master's plan
"You see my little sugar dish I gave you not a spout
but a wide and open mouth to dish my sugar out"

"And you were not created to whistle tunes for me
but to dish the sugar out that sweetens up my tea
And if you are not in the place I've chosen you to be
though you whistle like a teapot man will not drink my tea."

Romans 12:6 - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given us, let us use them.
I Corinthians 12:14-17 - For in fact the body is not one member but many. But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.
