Where is your heart?

by David Kee

Luke 12:29-34
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Where is your focus? Is it on the things of the world or is it on the things of God? The Lord knows that we have things to do and focus on. But this is not what is being asked. The question is where is your heart? Another words what is it that consumes you? What is your heart focused on? It is easy to get sidetracked and lose focus on God.

In the times that we are in we need to have our hearts set on the Lord. Yes, there will be times that we lose focus and get distracted. But the focus of your heart must stay on the Lord. It is OK to get distracted as long as we don't stay there. This is what happened to the children of Israel they did not keep the Lord in their hearts. And some of them did not make it into the promised land.

It is easy to get focused on our problems and begin to moan and groan, gripe, and complain. But when we find ourselves doing this we must stop and repent and give it to the Lord and let him handle it. And don't try and tell how to handle it. Of course, sometimes it is not a problem that draws us from the Lord.

Sometimes it's a blessing that the Lord gives us, and we try to take credit for it or start praising it instead of the Lord. There was a pastor friend of mine that once said jokingly that. He was going to stop praying for people to get a job because every time he did, and they got a job they would quit coming to church.

Some of them put the job above the Lord their treasure was their jobs not the Lord. So, I have to ask where is your heart?
