A Circuit Rider

by Samuel Williams
(Gladstone,Or. America)

This is about a preacher in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tenn., my wife's Great Grandpa. Traveling on horseback was his only way to get around.

He was a circuit rider,
preaching on God’s word.
He’s my wife’s great grandpa,
who they heard.

Just a Tenn. mountain man,
with five kids and a wife.
Wasn’t always easy picken's
In their life.

He traveled those Great Smoky’s,
going up and going down,
Sharing God’s love he'd found.

When God gives one a purpose,
take time to prepare,
Trusting, all your troubles
He will bear.

I picture a young preacher,
Riding on his horse,
Praying for God’s wisdom, staying
On God’s Course

He traveled those Great Smoky’s,
going up and going down,
Sharing God’s love he found.
