Are We Being Faithful?

by Josh Hollingsworth
(Bryant, Arkansas)

INTRODUCTION: What do we think of when we hear the word faithful? Do we think of someone who is loyal and true? Can we consider ourselves faithful at our jobs, in our Church and in our homes? Or do we know that faithfulness is something that we need to work on in our lives?

The Bible addresses this issue of being faithful. God tells us that we need to be faithful in our homes. Faithfulness needs to be shown in all we do in our work places. We also need to be faithful in Church.

THEME: WHERE SHOULD WE BE FOUND FAITHFUL?

I. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT HOME.

  1. We Need To Serve God At Home. Joshua 24:15
    1. Family devotions serve God.
NOTE: Family devotions are not just about reading the Bible and praying but building relationships within our families and with God.
    2. Personal devotions serve God.
NOTE: Personal devotions are one of the hardest disciplines to conquer in our Christian lives. It is an every day relationship with God that as Christians is a necessity for growth and maturity in our lives.
    3. Prayer serves God.
       a. Pray alone.
       b. Pray with others.
NOTE: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20

  2. We Need To Be Faithful To Our Husband, Wife Or Ourselves At Home.
    1. Physical Immorality keeps us from being faithful to our spouse or ourselves.
       a. Adultery. Exodus 20:14
       b. Sex before marriage.
NOTE: It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
    2. Unpure thoughts keep us from being faithful to our spouse. Matthew5:28
NOTE: Cheating or adultery first starts out as unpure thoughts and lusts.

T.S. WHERE SHOULD WE BE FOUND FAITHFUL?

I. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT HOME.

II. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT WORK.

  1. We Are Found Faithful At Work By Not Lying. Ephesians 4:25
    1. We should not lie to acquaintances.
NOTE: We should not lie to acquaintances and get rumors started by people we barely know.
    2. We should not lie to co-workers.
NOTE: Lying to co-workers is seen as stabbing them in the back and we will get it in return one way or another.
    3. We should not lie to bosses.
NOTE: We never need to lie to our bosses to make ourselves look better or to put someone else down.

  2. We Are Found Faithful At Work By Not Cheating. 2 Thessalonians 3:10
    1. We should not cheat on hours.
    2. We should not cheat on productivity.
NOTE: As Christians when we do not give our all at work we help give Christians and God a bad name.

  3. We Are Found Faithful At Work By Not Stealing.
    1. We should not steal others words or works. Jeremiah 23:30
    2. We should not steal food. Proverbs 6:30
    3. We should not steal material possessions. Matthew 19:18
NOTE: In Bible times when something was stolen there was a chance of the thief losing their hand if caught. Are we as Americans too lenient on theft or have we lost our consciences?

T.S. WHERE SHOULD WE BE FOUND FAITHFUL?

I. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT HOME.
II. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT WORK.

III. WE SHOULD BE FOUND FAITHFUL AT CHURCH.

  1. We Are Faithful At Church By Attending Faithfully. Hebrews 10:25
    1. Faithfully attending regular services.
    2. Faithfully attending special services.
       a. Revival services.
       b. Watch-night service.
NOTE: As children we might have been made to come to church but as we grow up we should want to come to church whenever possible to grow closer to God.
    3. Faithfully attending visitation.
NOTE: Witnessing to others is our way of thanking God for saving us and sharing what he has done for us with the lost.
    4. Faithfully attending church activities.
NOTE: Church activities are a way for us to fellowship with other believers and build strong relationships.

  2. We Are Faithful At Church By Ministering In Church.
    1. Ministering in Church can involve teaching. 2 Timothy 2:2
NOTE: Teaching can involve teaching a class, discipling someone, or teaching someone how to witness on visitation.
    2. Ministering in Church can involve preaching. Mark 16:15
    3. Ministering in Church can involve giving of our time and money. II Corinthians 9:7
NOTE: We should not be afraid to let the Lord use us to do his will and we should be cheerful givers when we give to God.

  3. We Are Faithful At Church By Lifting Others Up In Church.
    1. We lift others up with kind words. Ephesians 4:29
NOTE: A kind word does not have to be much. A smile and a hi can make a persons day.
    2. We lift others up with love. Ephesians 4:16
    3. We lift others up with our works. 1 Corinthians 14:26

CONCLUSION: Where should we be found faithful? We should be found faithful in our homes. We should be found faithful at our jobs and we should be found faithful at our Church.

We should be found faithful in our homes. Do you need to ask God for forgiveness for unfaithfulness to your spouse or yourself?

We need to be found faithful at our jobs. How many of us lie, cheat or steal at work and are ruining our reputations. Will you ask God for forgiveness and help to change these areas of your life.

We should be found faithful at Church. Is God convicting you about skipping Church, not being plugged into a ministry of the Church or not being a blessing and lifting others up while at Church? Will you let God help you be faithful in all that you do?

Being Faithful
by: Anonymous

Hi, I am writing this to tell everyone what I have done and how embarrassed I am about the thing I have done. I was not faithful to God in many ways ... I lied, I cheated, I was addicted to porn, I hurt someone very badly, I robbed money, I put others down, and all the things that I have done... this is all bad.... not faithful to God and his words(Bible)

I ask for forgiveness and mercy from the Lord Jesus, please forgive me and I will be a different human being from now on. I will change my self and make sure I follow your word and the way you want me to live.

To be faithful to God here is what we have to do.
Do not lie, do not steal, do not watch porn, do not cheat, do not forget God very important... don't be selfish, don't put someone down, beleive in God and if you do the above things you are faithful to God.....forgive everyone who has sinned against you.

God bless....
