Do You Hear The Voice Of God?

by Richard Allen Kent
(Sullivan, Indiana, USA)

Have you heard the voice of God? Do you understand what it means to hear from God? To be moved within your spirit and know that what you do is indeed God’s direct will without any doubt. Do you believe God still works and inspires people today in the spoken word as well as the written word, and that his voice can be heard thru the works of his faithful people? If so, do we know how to decipher truth in the pool of misguided theories, and half truths?

In John 10: 27 we read - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. God says, his sheep hear his voice. Those that know God and follow him (like sheep do a Sheppard) will know his will, partially because they know his character.

We know a holy God would not approve of unholy things-Amen. We know his character because we study and pray. We search for God and his truth in all things. We listen to those with wisdom and experience, and place each word on the balance of truth.

We take all things before the throne of God, and ask for his guidance. The Word says in Matthew 7:7 -Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Note “seek, and ye shall find.” If we are honestly seeking, then God gives his word to deliver truth to us. Also note, seek is indeed a verb, and requires our direct action.

God gives us a blueprint to live by in our good times and our desert times. It is obviously the Holy Bible. It is where we can go to see what has happened in history, and relate that event to our current ones, and know, good from bad, and right from wrong.

We have before us a complied history of wisdom and knowledge from those that went after truth like we are today, and through these men and women we can understand mankind’s mistakes, and revelations. But does God speak and touch his people in another way, meaning in a way that can be felt and heard without the intervention of man?

Can we “feel the hand of God? The answer to this is yes. The thing is, we must be careful not to be searching for just gifts or physical things for the enemy is quick to send "a look-alike," a fake representation of the Holy Spirit. He does this in an effort to please the person without necessarily guiding them into total truth.

The Word of God says in Luke 12; 31 -But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. What God is saying here is to trust him for the gifts and his touch. Often if we are not careful we go after the gift, and not the giver-Amen.

The Word says to go after the Giver and he promises to grant the gift. God has an order to things and if we stay on the path he has for us, we will indeed experience all that God is.
Are you searching to hear God’s voice today? Are you searching for a greater experience from God?

Understanding God knows our hearts, and our thoughts, trust that if we are sincere that want is already in the works. The plan God has for each of us is already unfolding, all we need to do is keep our eyes on Jesus and let the Holy Spirit rain down upon us.
