Has Evil Overshadowed The Godly Prayers In America?

“How you are fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Highest.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit.” (Isaiah 14:12–15)

Has evil overshadowed the Godly prayers in America?

I was suddenly awakened in the middle of the night as if a ton of bricks had hit me right between the eyes. It was an unexpected question, one of divine intent piercing the very marrow of my Christianity. “Has evil overshadowed the godly prayers in America?" was the call. I couldn’t return to sleep, no matter how hard I tried. I prayed, "Please, Lord, help me to remember all this tomorrow when I wake up." And He did.

Could it have been prompted by all the alleged fraudulent activity surrounding America’s recent presidential election? Could it be all the chaotic activity happening in America’s streets? Could it be the unusual life-threatening weather occurrences? Could it be the selfish mindset of America’s populace? Could it be the progressive perils of apostasy creeping in today’s church? Maybe so, with a little of all the above.

Whatever the cause or contributing factor of my sudden awakening, its surrounding circumstances were absolutely not new to America, the land of the free, the home of the brave, nor the entire universe in principle, for evil now surrounds us all.

Scripture simply, clearly and bluntly gives us the root cause of all this evil. In (Ephesians 6:12), we see that we are, and have been since the beginning of time, in an unseen spiritual war of many related battles. It’s just that this war has now apparently progressed to a boiling point in America.

Dr, Charles Ryrie puts this way, “The believer’s enemies are the demonic host of Satan, always assembled for mortal combat.”

Eons of time ago, Satan, or Lucifer meaning Star of the Morning, rebelled against God taking a third of the host of angels with him. (Revelation 12:4) When God created the world, He examined it to be good (Genesis 1:31), which meant no evil angels. Then, at some time before the sin of the garden of Evil (Genesis 3:1-7), this rebellion occurred in Heaven led by Satan himself. (Isaiah 14:14), When he then tempted Eve to sin, this caused the ongoing inherited fall of all mankind. Thus, sin has dogged our steps ever since.

So, it’s not necessarily any one cultural or generational effect, or political faction, as this evil war has been progressing up to this boiling point now being seen in America.

Although spiritual in nature, unlike our all-knowing, all-powerful Creator God, Satan cannot be in all places at once. He reserves his energy to concentrate on the biggest of the world; influential subjects like presidents, prime ministers, kings and other dignitaries, nobles and aristocrats of the world. He leaves us ordinary people to his spiritual minions to do his dirty work.

Satan does know the Bible and I personally feel he knows his time is short-lived here on earth, so he is throwing all efforts at a last-ditch effort of destruction.

How then may we Christians cope with such actions? Is there any divinely placed plan of action? Yes, our living Creator God, has given we, His people, a plan of action along with a promise of a successful reward.

In (II Chronicles 7:14) we are told that if we His people will humble ourselves, pray and seek His face, then He will hear from heaven and heal our land.

So, are you ready for action, my fellow believers? Have you had enough of this old world’s evil schemes? Are you ready to roll up your spiritual sleeves and go to work? I trust that you are.

For with our Creator, God, a day is but a thousand years. However, for us Christians, time may be short. Simply look around you and compare the news media to Scripture. We may just be on the very verge of the Last Days, as we know them to be. (II Timothy 3:1-9,13) (II Timothy 4:3-4)

Author’s Postscript

I trust you enjoyed my tidbit of personal musing. Often times, life does get into the fast lane. It's kind of like my seasoned church friend often says, “I’m ready for some of that Old Testament justice.” Also, like my former pastor would often say, “I know about the sweet by and by. But what about the nasty now and now?”

The bottom line here: We’re not only in a spiritual war, but a war both with the ongoing virus pandemic and for the very soul of our nation. If the rule of law is abandoned, we don’t have a nation. We Christians must stand our ground and be heard, for our Biblical principles.

As much as we can, we all have different places we can fight from. The home, the work place, the shopping mall, our next-door neighbor, and oh yes, our church. When is the last time you attended a city council meeting, sent an editorial to the local newspaper, ran for a local office, joined a neighborhood association? Yes, Satan is alive and well, and so must we be.

Don’t forget to please pray for America. From our finite minds, we don’t rightly know what America’s future holds. But we know Who holds the future. You see, I’ve read the back of the book (Bible) and guess what, we win. Amen!

My parting prayer.

Father God, I’m so unsettled within my spirit, my soul trembles within me. I know You are still our all-powerful, all-knowing Redeemer. I know You still place the just and unjust in authority according to Your perfect will. (Daniel 2:21). I know You reward good and punish evil (Genesis 12:3) with respect to Your people Israel. And I know from personal ongoing experience, that You love and protect Your own. (John 3:16) Thank You for Jesus and Your Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me into all truth, In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
