How Do I Know That God Is Really God?

I Kings 18:17-21

"If the Lord be God, follow Him." Atheists deny there is a God. Many of those people change their mind on their death bed. They live as an atheist but they do not want to die as an atheist.

Psalm 14:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."

-People worship many different gods: Mohammad, Buddha, Money, Pleasure, But the Bible declares there is only one true living God!

I Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

I. Because The Bible Says So

- Song "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so"

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

John 1:1-2 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God."

-God said He would destroy the world with a flood and He did.
-God spoke to Moses out of a burning bush.
-God parted the Red Sea so the Israelites could pass through on dry ground and.
-God protected the 3 Hebrew children in the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
-God healed the sick, Gave the blind their sight and raised the dead.

How do we know all of these things? Because the Bible says so!

II. Because Of Creation

- Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth? - ?Created?=?Bara?= ?Create out of nothing."

It didn't just fall into place after a great explosion in the heavens(foolish).

John 1:3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Think about it: How can a black cow, eat green grass, give white milk, yellow butter and red meat? Only God could design that.

Colossians 1:16 "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him."

-The evolutionist say we evolved from a monkey - I can understand why they say that. It is because they think like a monkey. Sometimes man is so smart that he doesn't make sense.

I'm sure I had some kinfolks that swung from a tree by the neck but none by the tail.

We believe what the Bible says.

Genesis 2:7 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

III. Because Of His Call

- Many believers don't listen for the still small voice of the Holy Spirit of God, but He continues to call. God calls to the unsaved.

1. God Calls Through His Word - Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
   
   Revelation 22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."



2. God Calls Through Christians - Acts 1:8 "Ye shall be witnesses unto me."
   
   What kind of witness are you? How long has it been since you told someone about Jesus and His saving power? Are you allowing God to call the lost through you?



3. God Calls Through Goodness - Romans 2:4 "The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance." Every meal, Every dime, Every second is because of Him.
   Psalm 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."



4. God Calls Through Trouble - He speaks through sickness, sorrow and even death.
   
   ILL. Young man named Mark was walking through the cemetery after I had finished with the graveside service. I asked him if he was ready to die. He was saved there.

IV. Because Of Answered Prayer

- God hears and answers the prayers of His children.

I John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us."

Psalm 37:4 "Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (Who else could make you that promise? NO ONE)

ILL. Early in our ministry we had 4 children, an old car and 4 "May Pop" tires (They May Pop at any moment), Julia and I were praying for 4 newer tires (The kids were hoping for a flat tire. It was an adventure to them). A lost man gave us 4 brand new tires.

ILL. A couple of years later a lost man that owned a gas station said he had something for me. He gave us a nice plush Chrysler New Yorker that was 2-3 years old and like new.

ILL. A few years ago we were traveling to preach a revival meeting that was 2 ½ hours away. About an hour into the trip our alternator went out. I walked across the road (Praying for a way to get there on time). I asked to use the phone. The gentleman heard me talking to the preacher and said to tell him I would be on time. He gave me the keys to a new Cadillac and told me I could bring it back when I got my car fixed.

ILL. Julia and I have been praying about a financial need. We haven't told anyone. We received a check last week in the mail from a friend that lives out of state that helped meet our need. GOD IS SO GOOD!

ILL. Julia has had a mass on her lung for a while. The doctor has been keeping a close eye on it. He was concerned and sent Julia for another X-ray last Tuesday. They called Wednesday and said it is totally gone. They asked Julia what she thought about it. She said "It is an answer to prayer. God did it."

V. Because Of Supernatural Salvation

- This is something we must know. Do you know for sure that you are going to heaven when you die?

I John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life."

ILL. For many years I believed in God , Heaven and Hell. I was 18 when I finally had an experience with Christ where I trusted Him as my Savior.

- It isn't enough to have a head knowledge. Even Satan believes in God.

Romans 10:9 "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness."

ILL. Paul and Silas were in a Roman jail in Acts 16, God sent an earthquake and opened the prison doors. The Philippian jailer said "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
He and his household were gloriously saved and baptized that night.

God is the only one that can take a person out of the pains of hell and put him in the portals of heaven.

Song: "You ask me how I know He lives. He lives within my heart."

VI. Because Of The Witness Of His Spirit

- I John 5:9-12 "The Witness" = "The Holy Spirit." "The Record" = "The Bible."

Romans 8:16 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."
