IF IT BE THY WILL, MY FATHER

by Charles Robey

Not My Will but Thine

Not My Will but Thine

If it be Thy will, My Father
May this cup be passed today
But not My will but Yours convey
If it be Thy will, My Father
Hear me now as to you I do pray
Give grace to My will without delay
If it be Thy will, My Father
Keep my followers safe in the way
May they be true and not betray
If it be Thy will, My Father
I go to complete You love plan
On the cross to take Your stand
If it be Thy will, My Father
Freely forgiving the sins of all
Erasing the penalty of mans fall
If it be Thy will, My Father
Answering the call to rise in place
Meeting all followers for to embrace
If it be Thy will, My Father
Answering Your call to say goodbye
Promising to meet again in the sky
If it be Thy will, My Father
Just say the word and tell me when
To shout and let the trumpet call begin
If it be Thy will, My Father

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

Our Lord was truly God and truly man. While on this earth, as the Son of God, He carried out God's spiritual plan. And as being truly man, He suffered pain as any other human would. Counting the pain, leading up to and including the pain of the cruel cross.

Yes, before the foundation of the world, Jesus Christ the second person of the Godhead , knew what His assignment was to be. That being to suffer and die on the cross, for the sins of all mankind.

If you had been the only person, who ever lived, Jesus would have died for you personally. And one need only to exercise faith in God's free grace, to be saved from their sin.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

You see, you can't work your way to heaven. You can't earn your way to heaven. And, your families good works can't get you in heaven. It's simple the "Love of God".

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
