Keys to Unlock the Door to Growth: Grace and Truth

by Dennis Michelson
(Novelty, Ohio)

II Peter 3:18

The text uses the present active imperative. This is not a suggestion. It is a command. If we are not growing and changing then we are living in disobedience to the command.

2. REALM OF GROWTH "Grace and Knowledge"

One must have knowledge of God before he can grow in the grace of God. It is impossible to be a gracious believer without first being a knowledgeable believer. Knowledge of the Bible and knowledge of God should not confused. One may know the Bible without knowing God but you cannot know God apart from the Bible.

(a) Knowledge of God

(1) Sovereignty produces confidence
(2) Providence produces peacefulness
(3) Sanctification produces patience

(b) Grace of God

(1) You will be characterized by humility
(2) You will be characterized by simplicity
(3) You will be characterized by charity
