Not of works, lest any man should boast--Ephesians 2:9

by Jonathan Spurlock
(Holts Summit, MO)

Note: This illustration, and an anonymous poem, were in an old Bible I bought at a thrift store not long ago. The author is G. M. Landis but I have no idea who this person is or was.

The text of the illustration follows:

"If we could save ourselves by our own good works, it would not have been necessary for Christ to have died, and we would have reason to boast of what we had done. But God will not permit flesh to glory in His presence. The praise of those in heaven is not of man but of the Lamb that was slain and who has redeemed them by His blood."
