Hebrews 12:2
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Context:
• Here we have a beautiful passage of scripture before us
• We do not know who wrote the book of Hebrews
• But scholars tell us that it was most likely Paul, Barnabas, or Apollos
• They wrote book because
• Many people where expecting Jesus to return
• In there life time
• When they did not see Jesus return
• They wondered if they made the right choice
• Because many wanted to return back to Judaism
• And the writer encourages them not go back
• But to stand firm in the faith
• And look to Jesus

Today I want to talk about, Looking to Jesus

1. What do people like at today

2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

c. It affected us in 3 ways
• It affected us Mentally
• Physically
• Spiritually
• Because of this
• We have a tendency to always sin

Illustration : Like a wheel ailment in car if you hit the curb on the left wheel the wheel have tendency to go right it will always go right until you get it fixed

• The Same has sin, once sin came into the world we have tendency to sin

• Mentally we don’t look for God unless something goes wrong

• We Physically want to do wrong

• Spiritually we don’t see the need for God
• That why the world does what it does
Romans 3:23 (New International Version)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 3:10-12 (New International Version)
10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
