Who Will Fill the Gap
By Alex Reece

What does it mean to stand in the gap and deny all worldly sins?
Not just to talk but strongly to act, for this is where it begins.
In order to stand we must be different, as Christians this we know,
but it is tough to walk the walk, in this sinful world below.
Where a baby is an accident and killing it is a choice,
Where our sinful country's president gives the Bible no public voice,
Where a bad word is a good word and a bad choice is good too,
Where the sinful, sinister, shameful world is begging just for you,
We must be different in times like this and not be controlled by sin,
No matter how hard it may be we know we can't give in.
We say that we are Christians, but do we really stand for Christ?
If we truly did, we wouldn't need his sacrifice.
For overall being like Christ is our total goal,
This is the first and final step toward spiritually being whole.
For in order to be like Christ who always stood in the gap,
We must speak up when we see sin; and follow his perfect map.
So do we stand up when we hear cursing or when we hear sinful speak,
or do simply we hide our pride and turn the other cheek?
Do we stand up when we see violence or hatred to a friend,
or do we flee, claim not to see, and pretend it's the situation's end?
Do we stand up when we hear denial of the existence of our Lord,
or are we quiet and let them deny it and never draw our sword.
We often do not stand up for these, but of what are we afraid,
Is it for fear of non-acceptance by those who curse his name?
But why do we want to be accepted, do we like the things they do?
For whether we do these things, or not, will determine your fate for you.
We want acceptance because it's fun in the only life we know,
But a fun short life is a bad exchange for an eternal life of woe.
Do you see yourself in a million years thinking, “I'm glad I toughed it out,”
or do you see yourself weeping in pain, “I could have done without.”
With a million years being such a long time, but in eternity, just the beginning,
Imagine the cost, and all that is lost, just to go on sinning
You must stand up against these sins and avoid temptation's trap...
You'll enjoy your eternal paradise if you'll just fill the gap.
