WILL THE EAGLE FLY AGAIN

PROLOGUE

I just love to see the Bald Eagle fly. They seem so robustly strong and confident of their mission as they fly through America’s big skies. No wonder America chose this bird as our national symbol.

The bald eagle’s role as a national symbol is linked to its 1782 landing on the Great Seal of the United States, shortly after the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.

So, please allow me the honor of prefacing this Scripture-inspired blog by stating I don't usually get involved with politics. I'm not a Democrat, a Republican, nor an Independent. And I am virtually color blind, as I don't boast of belonging to any imaginary "red state" or "blue state" concept. I have crossed the voting fence many times in voting God's principles. And to date myself, the little Judge, George Wallace, was my man (Independent candidate) of the hour.

You see I'm just a plain, old, red-blooded American Christian who is in love with God, family and country, in that order. However, I do feel this past United States election was the most important of history. Our God-given freedoms were surely at stake.

Now, take it from this older than dirt and twice as gritty old southern boy, and grab a glass of cold buttermilk laced with homemade corn bread, sit back in your comfortable duct-taped, faded platform rocker, and enjoy this Scripture-orientated blog entitled ‘Will The Eagle Fly Again?"

Will the eagle fly again? Fly over America’s spirituality, her hard-fought freedoms, her world superiority, and her reputation as the land of the free and home of the brave?

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Will it continue to fly over and safeguard America’s Constitution, in which combine the best ideas of the past with innovations in what the Federalist called an improved science of politics, federalism, separation of powers, and checks and balances? In doing so, they created a form of government which had, in the words of James Madison, “no model on the face of the earth." (taken in part from Larry P. Arnn, President, Hillsdale College.)

Does America now appear to be in one grand mess? If the news media outlets are correct in their reporting assessment, both sides of America’s political aisles have seemingly turned against the Scriptures, our freedoms, our leadership, and we the people.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.” (Isaiah 5:20-21)

Has God turned America over to madness as He prepares to bring judgment? I think God's patience with our national sins may have come to an end. If we think America may escape the judgment that He brought on Israel for the same sins, we are sadly mistaken.

“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” (Romans 1:28)

Remember the ancient King Nebuchadnezzar. By God’s judgement, his madness drove him into the wilderness to live in isolation and eat grass on all fours like a wild animal for seven years.

His hair grew as long as eagle’s feathers and his nails were like birds’ claws. Thus, Nebuchadnezzar became just another beast of the forest. On coming to his senses, he got the picture of God’s power. This narcissistic king regained his sanity when he distinctly confessed that God is supreme.

“At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?” At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble. “(Daniel 4:34-37)

If ever we lived in a time when America desperately needed to return to its roots, its spiritual reasoning and its logical thinking, it’s now for sure. This reasonableness has been invaded by a progressive, communistic mindset. The reasonableness of America is found in direct correlation with our turning, or not turning to God. The right choice and cure of all of society’s ills must be our loyalty to our living Creator. However, our living Creator, God, will always make the right decision.

“He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” (Daniel 2:21)

Lesson to take, America: return to your all-powerful, all-knowing Creator God, before it’s too late. Confess your national sins, your iniquities, your transgressions, and come back to your living Creator, God. Don’t be found wandering in a forest of godly punishment.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14)

EPILOGUE

You've probably gathered from my recent blogs, that I’m very much concerned with the direction in which our great republic America may be headed. It is surely an uncharted course, to say the least. But we’re not in the belly of the whale just yet. (Jonah 2:2)

Being brought up as a much renowned PK (short for preacher's kid), I was born and raised to honor the dictates of the Gospel, and our beloved republic of America and I can’t understand America’s current aggressive societal spirit.

Will America’s symbol, the Bald Eagle ever freely fly again? Or, has America’s big bird been shot down by a progressive socialists reformer?

“Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down," declares the LORD.” (Obadiah)

“Because men are not angels, government is necessary. Because no man stands to another as God to man, or as man to beast, government must be based on consent. The moral foundation of the Constitution is in the Declaration of Independence and its principles of equal rights. Under the Constitution, government was to be limited to protecting those rights.

In recent decades, the way our government operates has departed from the Constitution. It has become less limited, and our liberties less secure. At the same time, true civic education in America - education in the Constitution has largely died out.

The first three words of our Constitution are “We the people.”(Larry Arnn, President, Hillsdale College)

Yes, that about sums it all up, including this little Scripture based blog. Amen!

A PARTING PRAYER

“Almighty God, and most merciful Father, Who didst command the children of Israel to offer a daily sacrifice to Thee, that thereby they might glorify and praise Thee for Thy protection both night and day, receive, O Lord, my morning sacrifice which I now offer up to Thee; I yield Thee humble and hearty thanks that Thou has preserved me from the danger of the night past, and brought me to the light of the day, and the comforts thereof, a day which is consecrated to Thine own service and for Thine own honor. Let my heart, therefore, Gracious God, be so affected with the glory and majesty of it, that I may not do mine own works, but wait on Thee, and discharge those weighty duties Thou requires of me, and since Thou art a God of pure eyes, and wilt be sanctified in all who draw near unto Thee, Who does not regard the sacrifice of fools, nor hear sinners who tread in Thy courts, pardon, I beseech Thee, my sins, remove them from Thy presence, as far as the east is from the west, and accept of me for the merits of Thy son Jesus Christ, that when I come into Thy temple, and compass Thine altar, my prayers may come before Thee as incense; and as Thou wouldst hear me calling upon Thee in my prayers, so give me grace to hear Thee calling on me in Thy word, that it may be wisdom, righteousness, reconciliation and peace to the saving of the soul in the day of the Lord Jesus. Grant that I may hear it with reverence, receive it with meekness, mingle it with faith, and that it may accomplish in me, Gracious God, the good work for which Thou has sent it. Bless my family, kindred, friends and country, be our God & guide this day and forever for His sake, who lay down in the Grave and arose again for us, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.” (George Washington)
