WILL WE MAKE OUR BED- AND WILL WE LIE IN IT

We are in the midst of what may be the most misleading deceptive presidential election ever in the history of the United States, I say this, as I watch all the candidate commercials, listen to the talk shows, read the newspapers and listen in to random conversations.

Even the most creditable pundits are scratching their heads in disbelief. They just can't understand what is happening in our country’s politics. They are simply bewildered as to why so many of our citizenry seem to be ignoring the apparent dishonesty of the election platforms. Why so many of our citizens continue to back a specific agenda also puzzles me.

So as this blog heading states, will we (America) make our bed and will we lie in it? Definition: "You made a decision and now must accept its consequences. This expression is commonly used as a response to people who have been complaining about problems they have brought on themselves." (Dictionary.com)

As I always endeavor to do, I decided to go directly to God's Word (2 Timothy 3:16). I really wasn't surprised when God's Word specifically reaffirmed two of God's most valuable attributes, that of love and judgment.

We know that God has always been about love (Zeph. 3:17). To experience God's love is to simply take His Word by faith (Hebrews 11:1, 6). He gave us His Son (John 3:16), as a substitute for our inherited and individual sins (Genesis 3:1-7). And we may accept His free grace, by our faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Regarding God's judgment, He cannot condone sin. He will not and cannot willfully overlook sins. What are some of the major violations of God's principles?

The killing of unborn babies (Exodus 20:13) (Exodus 21:12-4), to the tune of 50-60 million to date, is the shedding of innocent blood. (Proverbs 6:17) If only half of these murdered children would have lived, God only knows the contributions to society they may have made.

Same-sex marriage is a sin against God’s image. Each of us is made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27), and God's males and females are to cohabitate in marriage by being fruitful and multiplying (Genesis 1:28). This cannot occur in a true same-sex marriage.

Forbidding the freedom's of God's Word and prayer in government and public facilities such as courtrooms, council chambers, educational facilities, military institutions, sports events, and the list goes on. (Psalm 119:11).

And what about using godly versus ungodly speech? (Ephesians 4:29) In America, we have numerous free speech opportunities available under the guidelines of our Second Amendment right of freedom of speech. Granted, some of the opportunities are put to good use, while others take advantage of this freedom by spreading personal and collective agendas. However the Scripture has a lot to say about turning this freedom into sin (Psalm 34:13).

One of the most important sins of all is our country's failure to support the nation of Israel (Genesis 12:3). Oh, our leaders may give lip service, but our country's actions appear to speak otherwise.

You may be able to fool the people...but not our Heavenly Father (Zech. 2:8-9).

What happens when the American people fail to turn from our collective wicked ways? Simply put, God refuses to hear the prayers of the people and brings judgment on America (2 Chronicles 7:14). How does God punish America for these sins?

The First Chapter of Romans gives very good insight into America's ungodly, evil lifestyle. We see that God's wrath is handed down from heaven against all evil (Romans 1:18).

We see that God's eternal attributes of His power and His divine nature have been forever clearly shown (Romans 1:20).

We see that even though the people may know God, they don’t acknowledge Him or give Him thanks, and their foolish hearts are darkened (Romans 1:21), as professing to be wise we became foolish, (Romans 1:22) and exchange the glory of the incorruptible God for corruptible living beings (Romans 1:23).

And sad to report, God may have already given the America citizenry over to the lust of their hearts and their bodies have been dishonored. (Romans 1:24)

Therefore, if America chooses not to acknowledge God any longer, God will give us over to a depraved mind, to do things which are not proper (Romans 1:28), being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice, Romans1:29). Are we, as a nation, there now?

Our citizens are ending up being slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, (Romans 1:30), without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful. (Romans 1:32) And this practiced ungodliness also rubbed off on the other citizens (Romans 1:32).

Wow, the apostle Paul really got it right, for our time! This First Chapter of Romans surely seems to describe America's life style of today. Just check out America's news media, follow the candidates’ speeches, and listen to our citizenry, to compare today's America with this scripture.

How will God use the results of this presidential election to affect His sovereignty? Will it foster peace and bring back America's godly roots? Or will evil continue to produce evil and usher in the end times’ preliminaries? (2 Timothy 3:1-9, 13) (2 Timothy 4:3-4) Only time will tell. It's not too late to pray, however.

Author's Postscript:

Is it too late? Will this upcoming election prove that it's too late? Has God already decided the outcome? And has America already made its collective bed of evil and is doomed to lie in it? I pray not. I am standing on the promises of God (Daniel 2:19-23), and am pleading with Him to give us a second chance, pleading that we will see a national revival break out, through our land by using the guidelines and claiming the promises of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Just remember, regardless of the results of this upcoming presidential election nothing, and I do mean absolutely nothing will separate His people from His love (Romans 8:37-39). For His plans for our lives are already etched in the stones of Heaven's wall (Jeremiah 29:11).

Please pray for the election, November 8, 2016, and be sure to vote.
